New Moon Meditation for Creatives - May 2026

The signature: root

This is a new moon for slowing down. Settling In. Staying.

Taurus is an earth sign, ruled by Venus — the planet of beauty, pleasure, and value. Where last month's energy asked us to ignite and begin, this moon asks something quieter. It asks us to tend what we've started, feel the ground beneath it… trusting that slow, steady, and sensory is its own kind of creative power.

This is also a Supermoon, meaning the moon is closer to Earth than usual, which amplifies everything Taurus is already offering. More feeling. More body. More presence. You may notice your senses sharpening: what you're drawn to, what repels you, what feels worth your time and what doesn't. Pay attention to that. Taurus is one of the great discerners of the zodiac. It knows the difference between what's genuinely nourishing and what just looks good.

Mercury, the planet of communication and thought, is aligned with this new moon. There may be something you've been needing to say, a truth you've been sitting with, or a creative voice that's ready to be heard. Taurus governs the throat. Which means this moon is asking not just what you're making, but whether you're willing to speak it.

What Taurus brings to creativity

Patience over urgency → good work takes the time it takes

Pleasure over productivity → create from enjoyment, not obligation

Consistency over intensity → a little, done regularly, changes everything

Value over volume → what is this work actually worth to you?

What the Supermoon adds

Everything is closer and felt more. The things that matter rise to the surface a little more readily, and so do the things that have been draining you. Use that clarity. A Supermoon in Taurus is a good time to ask: where am I spending creative energy that doesn't align with what I actually value? And what would it look like to redirect it?

Rest: the creative practice no one talks about

Taurus doesn't hustle. It grazes, savors, and builds slowly… building to last. The most Taurean creative practice is one that feels genuinely good in the body, that you return to because it feeds something real. Rest here looks like simple beauty: A walk… a meal made with care… time in the garden… music you love. The senses are the doorway. Let yourself in.

How to use this energy from New Moon → Full Moon (May 16 → May 31)

Think: root → tend → speak → expand

New Moon (May 16–18): Root + set intention

  • Spend time somewhere in nature, even briefly. Feel the ground beneath your feet.

  • Name one creative project or practice worth committing to slowly, over time.

  • Ask: What do I value enough to give my steady attention to?

Waxing Crescent (May 18–23): Tend + build

  • Show up to the work consistently, even in small ways. Especially in small ways.

  • Let pleasure be part of the process. If it feels joyless, something needs adjusting.

  • Ask: Does this feel nourishing?

First Quarter (May 23–25): Speak + share

  • Mercury's influence makes this a good window for conversations about your work: pitch, share, collaborate, or simply tell someone what you're making.

  • Say the thing that’s on your heart, even if it's not polished yet.

  • Ask: What have I been holding back, and is it time to let it out?

Waxing Gibbous (May 25–30): Refine + trust

  • Edit for beauty and honesty. Taurus has taste — trust yours.

  • Resist the urge to rush toward completion. Let it be ready when it's ready.

  • Ask: Does this feel like mine?

Full Moon (May 31): Illuminate + expand

  • This is a Sagittarius full moon: vision, meaning, the bigger picture.

  • What has this cycle taught you about what you're really making, and why?

  • Share, show, send, or simply sit with how far the work has come.

Taurus New Moon practice + journal prompts

Practice:

  1. Find somewhere you can be outside, or near a window with natural light.

  2. Stand or sit with your feet on the ground. Take a few deep, long, slow breaths.

  3. Place one hand on your throat. Notice what it feels like to breathe through it.

  4. Ask yourself quietly: what wants to be said? Don't force an answer. Just listen.

  5. When you're ready, write down whatever comes to you.

Journal prompts:

  • What creative work do I keep returning to, even when no one is watching? What does that tell me?

  • Where in my creative life am I rushing, and what would it look like to slow down and let quality lead?

  • What do I want to say that I haven't said yet?
